Design a display one bulb at a time
This Christmas light template turns a familiar holiday shape into a paper sequencing activity. The sheet contains four bulb outlines with broad bodies and separate cap details. Give each bulb a colour, letter or simple symbol, then arrange the finished pieces into a repeating sequence. A teacher can use the same shapes for a short classroom message or a collaborative display along a notice board.
Plan the order before making many copies
Use the small planning row to sketch the sequence you want to repeat. For example, alternate two colours or use a three-part pattern with a different mark on each bulb. If you are spelling a word, count the letters first and print enough bulbs. Keep spaces between words visible. Planning the order makes it easier to spot a missing piece before the display is attached.
Print, colour and arrange the paper pieces
Print the PDF on US Letter paper at actual size. Colour before cutting so the paper stays easy to hold. Place the cut shapes on a table and check the sequence from left to right. Adults can assist with scissors and attachment. These are flat paper decorations only; they are not covers, fittings or templates for making electrical lights, and should stay separate from working light strings.
Build the lettering around the available space
The free file includes bulb shapes and a planning row, without a full alphabet. The related bulletin board pack adds several alphabet styles, small letters and a display planner. Use larger letters for the heading above your garland and check smaller lettering against the bulbs before printing a complete set. The paid files are general classroom lettering resources, so the seasonal bulb artwork comes from this free page.
